Fun

This is a little difficult to learn due to multiple directions but so fun to play with teenagers and above.

Needed for 6-8 player play, must have core game and expansion to use.

Just like the other 6-8 player expansions, the cost is what I don't like. You already have to buy to 50 dollar games, Catan Core, then the Expansion, then player expansion. (they really know how to squeeze you for every penny) Alas, the product is what is says it is. Same quality of materials as you would get in your core set and expansion set, this set just gives you the ability to play with more people, aka extra tokens painted another cother, with border expansions and pieces that come to make it a 6 - 8 player game. Really not much to look at, and in my humble opinion should just be packed with the expansion itself, but it is what it is. If your looking to expand your players to more than for you need this ONLY if you have the appropriate expansion. AKA this wont work if you just have seafarers expansion...you need to the the cities and knights expansion AND the Catan CORE game.

A must have if your group loves C&K

This is an excellent extension if you have more than 4-players that love the extra depth C&K adds to the game. This particular 5-6 player extension gives you the knights and city wall pieces for brown and green team, along with more commodity cards and 2 more Defender of Catan VP cards. Oh and 2 more flip card charts for the city upgrades. Well the other 5-6 player extensions give you more hex tiles, wooden game pieces, or various cards, this box seems to give you the least amount of new pieces. Regardless, this is an essential add-on for the BEST expansion for Catan. Of course be aware that in order to use this set you need: -Base Catan Game -Catan 5-6 Player Extension -Cities and Knights Expansion Every 5-6 Player Extension requires that you own their respective Base expansion PLUS the Base Catan Game with the regular Catan 5-6 Extension.

Our favorite Catan expansion!

It took some getting use to because it basically doubles the rules of the original game, but once you learn it, regular Catan almost seems boring. Definitely like merging Seafarers and Cities and Knights though.

Fantastic Expansion for Catan, our favorite version to play

We love Catan, but the cities and knights expansion takes it to another level. Cities and Knights is our favorite version we've played, it adds so much to the game. OF COURSE, expansions for Catan are not cheap and because of this I took a star off, the value for what I'm sure it costs them to make (since it is a lot less pieces) is not great. BUT still a great expansion and we are excited to play this version with more of our friends by expanding to the 5-6 player version!

Does the Job!

I got this expansion extension for Catan so my family (6) could play Catan: Cities and Knights. It has been well worth it! Its a small box and has everything you need to play it with 6 people instead of 4. Good pricing too! Would recommend!

We played regular catan for months before upgrading to seafarers then over a year later cities and knights. A guy in a game store put it to me best: if you want to make the map bigger, get seafarers. If you want more rules and more in a more in depth gaming experience, get cities and knights. Didn't realize this was the 5-6 player add on, and not the entire cities and knights expansion. Got the expansion, and it is heavy. Not for beginner catan players (which we are not).
